My Need For Speed Trailer Review

Hey guys, Movie Maniac here, and I bring to you my review of the trailer to Need For Speed, starring Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul as the main character Tobey Marshall.

The plot goes as follow: After being released from prison for a crime that he didn't commit, a street racer, Tobey Marshall (Aaron Paul), is set to race cross-country and to get revenge on his longtime friend and partner.

I didn't quite like this trailer because, and this is going to sound ironic to some people, it is just a Fast and Furious franchise rip-off. Do not get me wrong, I love Aaron Paul on Breaking Bad, but all I see is a off putting, bad rip-off Paul Walker's character Brian O'Conner from the F&F franchise. It feels like I'm in the Twilight Zone when I start comparing a film to the F&F franchise.

However, I will say the cinematography of the movie looks awesome. I should have brought this up when I first posted this, but it took me a couple more views of the trailer for me to really see the beauty in the cinematography. Well done on that part, you persuaded me to want to see the movie because of how it looks visually. I won't be going in expecting the plot to be Oscar-worthy; but, I do expect to be dazzled by the action.

I hope the film is good, but for right now the trailer did not hook me a whole lot; however, I will, again, check it out. Need For Speed is scheduled to be released on March 14th, 2014.

Let me know what you guys think of the trailer in the comment box below.

The Fast and The Furious Movie Review

Hey guys, Movie Maniac here, and today, I'm bringing you guys the first review of a six-part movie franchise review of the Fast and Furious Franchise. Without further ado, here is my review of The Fast and The Furious (2001).

Released on June 22, 2001, The Fast and the Furious, starring Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, etc., became the first of many movies that would become one of the most successful movie franchises to date. Face it, we all know it is true. The film's concept was inspired by a Vibe magazine article on street racing in New York City at the time. The plot was pretty simple, a Los Angeles police officer goes undercover in the underground world of street racing in an attempt to catch the perpetrators of recent semi-truck robberies in LA.

Now of course, the first thing everybody says "it's a rip-off Point Break!" And I'm not going to dispute the fact that yes it is a rip-off of Point Break. However, I am going to review the movie as if Point Break never existed.

Like in my Kick Ass 2 Review, I'm going to list down what I liked about it, in the form of "Positives" and what I did not like about it, in the form of "Negatives" and then give my final rate of listing both.

Without further ado, the "Positives"

Positives:
  • It is a popcorn flick, meaning you do not watch the movie and judge it too harshly on its plot, you go watch it just for the action and just for pure entertainment.
  • The cars and the racing scenes in the film was awesome for what is was at the time the film was released. Some really good action scenes such as the race between Brian and Dom right before the cops showed up and Brian saves Dom, gaining Dom's respect.
  • I believe the ensemble of Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez and crew was, to me anyways, a driving point of the film; granted, in a film about street racing, I wasn't looking for Oscar-worthy acting so I did not find their acting worth calling it bad, it just fit the movie and its premise.
  • The whole truck scene where Vince gets shot by the driver with a shotgun was pretty cool. Between us, I have always hated Vince as a character so I wanted him to die; granted, I got my wish in Fast Five, hehehe.
  • The second to last scene of the film where Tran gets killed by Brian and Dom injures Lance was pretty cool as well. Their impromptu race at the end of the film was cool as well.
Now the "Negatives"

Negatives
  • Though I felt the acting was good, it was still bad.
  • I did not care for much about certain character such as Jesse and Vince. Hell until Fast and Furious (2009), I did not care about Mia Toretto. Most of the scenes those characters were in made me want to not watch the movie while those parts were on.
  • The Brian and Mia Romance was pretty dull and boring and lifeless. I found Dom and Letty's romance more exciting.
  • Pacing was a problem at some points. I felt bored until the action scenes happened.
  • Finally, I tried not to bring this point up but clearly if anybody saw Point Break, this was like a 2001 bastard child of that film. You forced my hand, writers of this film.
Overall, I'm going to give The Fast and The Furious (2001) a 2: Ehh it was ok. I believe at the time it was probably worth the money to see it in theaters. However, it is just a good popcorn flick if you are bored and there is nothing else to do or watch on TV. As well as, if you want to know all the characters and the origin of the franchise, then you definitely should watch this. Or watch Point Break and just picture cars, street racing, lesser plot and acting chops instead of surfing.

Let me know what you guys thought of this film and check back in a couple of days for my review of 2 Fast 2 Furious.

More Fast and Furious News

Hey guys, Movie Maniac here, and I have some more Fast and Furious news. Man these guys are just on fire when it comes to news that they drop. Anyway, Universal Pictures has just confirmed that the star of The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift, Lucas Black, has just been signed on for not only Fast 7 and Fast 8 but also Fast 9!! It seems like Universal Pictures is going to keep milking this cash cow. And who could blame them, Fast 6 made almost $800 million worldwide after its run.
The Fast and Furious franchise is definitely starting to become one of my favorite movie franchises in recent memory and this news about bringing back Lucas Black's character Sean Blackwell, has made me even more excited about the future films.
Let me know what you guys think about this news. Are you excited for the next installments of the Fast and Furious franchise as I am? Let me know in the comment box below

Justin Bieber is Not Going To Play Robin!

Hey guys, Movie Maniac here, and I'm here to help clear up the rumor about the infamous selfie that Justin Bieber snapped of him and a David S. Goyer-crafted script that had audiences speculating that Justin might play Robin in Batman Vs. Superman. Well I'm here to tell you that, NO!! Justin is not playing Robin!

Apparently, the person who confirmed the fakeness of the photo, saw the real script and states that the script the Bieber photographed is not authentic. he assured us that the pic is more than likely from an upcoming Funny or Die video project.

I don't know about you guys but I'm glad it's not authentic. Justin isn't an actor and he shouldn't ever be near a comic book movie until he sharpen his acting chops. I don't want to seem like I'm bagging on the 19-year old singer, I'm just stating, I would want to see an actor who's focus is acting play Robin, not a singer who wants to try his hand at acting.

But anyway, let me know what you guys think. Are you happy Justin's not playing Robin? Did you want him to play Robin? Did you really care? Let me know in the comment box below.

Fast and Furious Franchise News!!

Hey guys, Movie Maniac here, and I have some quick Fast and Furious 7 news. It has been reported that Fast and Furious 7, which opens in theaters July 11th, 2014, has just started filming. That's right Fast 7 is a go!

It is also being reported that Kurt Russell's character has been moved from being a main villain to maybe a cameo in Fast 7. The change was confirmed on there Twitter account, as well as other news regarding the film. Now it may sound like a bad decision but here's why they did it, and I quote:

"Kurt Russel was almost about to join #Fast7. He would play the father of Jesse, and he would be Toretto's villain."

"He would work together with @realjstatham in the film, as Ian Shaw in #Fast7, to take revenge on Toretto and his family."

"@UniversalPics was searching for a bad guy for #Fast7, but he would be even more bad in #Fast8."

"With other words, #Fast7 is not the final part of the @FastFurious saga. #Fast8 is also planned. (But no release yet ;) )"

"Hit the #Retweet button if you would like to see @TheLucasBlack in #Fast7! #RealDK."

After reading all those tweets, let me break down all the news that was revealed:
  1. Kurt Russell's character was to be the main villain for Dom. He is the father of Jason Statham's character, Ian Shaw, and they were going to work together to fight Dom and the crew.
  2. Fast 7 isn't the end of the series, there's going to be a Fast 8!
  3. Kurt Russell's character will be the main villain in Fast 8.
  4. Lucas Black, known for playing the main character Sean in Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift, may be returning to avenge the death of Han, again, in Fast 7.
The Fast and Furious franchise is really starting to heat up even more! I can't wait for Fast 7 and Fast 8!!

Let me know what you think about these announcements. Are you excited for the next two films as am I? Do you really care at all? Let me know!

Jurassic Park 4 Gets a New Title and Release Date

Hey Guys, Movie Maniac here, and I have a quick news story to tell you guys. So if you didn't know already, Paramount is creating the next installment in the Jurassic Park franchise, Jurassic Park 4. Well it is now being told that the title of the film is now officially being called Jurassic World. Now with this name change, it starts to bring into fruition the rumored plot of the film, which is stated below:

” ‘Jurassic Park 4,’ set in present day Isla Nublar, is now an actual theme park, as originally intended by John Hammond in the first film. It garners 10 million visitors per year and is completely safe – until it’s not. The park itself is described as very Sea World-esque and includes an area called the Isla Nublar Lagoon. That means underwater dino’s for the first time. No indication of what kind, but there’s concept art showing one of the aquatic dinos, as part of a show, jumping out of the lagoon and eating a strung up great white shark like it was a fish for a dolphin at sea world.”

I actually don't mind the plot at all, it seems legit in the way that this is what Jurassic Park was supposed to be and now that they have it, of course it's going to be some conflict with holding all those dinosaurs in a zoo-like environment. I can say, I am honestly looking forward to Jurassic World when it comes to theaters.

With that being said, I am going to Segway into the other half of this post. Now we all knew the new installment was supposed to come out in the summer of next year; however, it got pushed back to for rewrites and other reasons. Well now it's being officially confirmed that Jurassic World will hit theaters on June 12th, 2015!

2015 is definitely going to be the biggest year for movies! You have so many movies such as Avengers: Age of Ultron, Star Wars Episode VII, Man of Steel 2: World's Finest (not official name of Batman Vs. Superman film), etc. I cannot wait for 2015 and it looks like Jurassic World is another film that's going to make 2015 an epic year for movies.

Let me know what you guys think of this name change and release date. Are you looking forward to 2015 as I am? Let me know what movies are you looking forward to in 2015?

Fast and Furious Franchise Review/Insidious: Chapter 2 Review Announcement

Hey guys, Movie Maniac here, and I'm here to tell you guys a decision I have made. So we all know about the Fast and Furious franchise that has been going on for 12 years now. The crazy thing is if someone would've asked me, say 7 years ago, that the Fast and Furious franchise was going to be one of the most successful movie franchises that I've seen lately, I probably would've laughed at them. However, it's crazy how things work out isn't it?

So in light of all the buzz the franchise has been getting lately with Fast 6 making 787.9 million dollars and the announcement of Fast 7 coming to theaters on July 11th 2014, I have decided to review every movie of the Fast and Furious franchise up to Fast 6.

This should be interesting since it's my first whole movie franchise review. Plus I have some words that needs to be said about the first half of this franchise (The Fast and the Furious-Tokyo Drift). Anyway, look out for those reviews coming soon, I can't wait to review them.

Also, as you all know, Insidious Chapter 2 comes out this Friday. I plan on seeing the Insidious and Insidious: Chapter 2 Double Feature that the AMC Theaters is hosting. I can't wait for that!! So look out for my review of Insidious: Chapter 2 and I just may review the first Insidious too!

To wrap this up, look forward to all those reviews within the coming week or so and thanks for reading so far and hope you guys grow with me.

My RoboCop (2014) Trailer Review

Hey guys, Movie Maniac here, and I bring you guys one of maybe three posts during my birthday weekend. Going into what the title eludes to, this is my review of the trailer to the Robocop reboot coming to theatres on February 7th, 2014.

The plot goes as follow: In 2028, multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and honest cop doing his best to fight crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured while on duty, OmniCorp utilize their knowledge in robotics to save Murphy's life. Murphy returns to the streets of his city with new abilities and issues a regular man has never had to face before.

I can't even lie, the trailer hooked me. Maybe it was because they showed probably most of the good parts of the movie in the trailer; but, I am hooked and I will definitely go see it in February. The first thing that caught my eye in the trailer was that they have Joel Kinnaman, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Keaton (where has he been?) and Gary Oldman. To me that's an awesome cast. And if you guys don't know who Joel Kinnaman is, well he's the star of AMC's The Killing.

I also like how they showed an update of the old armor from the first couple of Robocop films and then they brought in the new all black suit and I love it. That black suit looks awesome and the whole way how they are going to use the Man Vs. Machine as like the lesson of the film should go over well. I really hated the one human hand sticking out of the whole suit. That looks stupid and not needed, just cover the damn hand. Hey, if the film is bad, then I still have the original. But until it comes out I have to say that I really enjoyed this trailer.

So let me know what you guys thought about the trailer. Did you like it? Did you not like it? Are you excited for the film? Do you think it's going to bomb? Let me know in the comment box below.

Transformers 4 Gets a Title and Poster

Hey guys, Movie Maniac here, and boy do I have a good one for you guys. If you guys haven't heard by now, Paramount has announced the name of Transformers 4 and confirmed this announcement with a poster. Transformers 4 is now titled Transformers: Age of Extinction.

I have to say I love the name. It fits for a Transformers film for me. Now let me just say, I liked the first Transformers live-action film, hated the second one: Revenge of the Fallen, and I liked the third one: Dark of the Moon, so I'm kinda half and half on my anticipation for Age of Extinction. I must say I really love this title and the cast of the film, i.e. Mark Wahlberg, etc. And I love the addition of the Dinobots. I'm just hoping this movie delivers better than its predecessors and give us a good movie. And if it's just mind-blowing action, well for me that's ok too.

Let me know what you guys think of the news from Transformers: Age of Extinction.
