Breaking News!! The Incredibles 2!!

Hey guys, Movie Maniac here, sorry I haven't posted in a while, but boy, I have returned with some great news. As the title of this says, Disney has announced, also confirmed by Robert A. Iger (Head of Disney) himself, that they are making THE INCREDIBLES 2!!! Also Cars 3, but more importantly, to me anyways, THE INCREDIBLES 2!!

It is no secret how much I love the first film by Brad Bird. It was action-packed, hilarious, it has some emotional moments, it was so ahead of its time and that is what made it so epic. If you guys are unfamiliar with The Incredibles, allow me to refresh your memory:

The Incredibles follows the story of how all super heroes had to give up being superheroes and assume civilian identities. Prior to that law, Mr. Incredible and Elasti-Girl gets married and decides to settle down with one another in hopes of starting a family. After the law goes into effect, they do start a family, a family of superheroes, and we follow how they live as civilians. Soon Mr. Incredible wants to get back in the game of being a superhero after being fired from his job for attacking his boss. Afterwards, a new villain named Syndrome appears with these Giant bowling ball shaped robots that he designed and built and intends to get revenge on Mr. Incredible. With that, the rest of the family, Dash, Violet, and Elasti-Girl/Mrs. Incredible goes to save Mr. Incredible and they as a family go to stop Syndrome and his flawed plan of becoming a superhero; even though, he is evil.

There that is basically what happens in a nutshell. Back to the news, I think this is a great move by Disney-Pixar and I can not wait for further information. Are you guys ready for THE INCREDIBLES 2?!!

My "Guardians of the Galaxy" Trailer Review

Hey guys, Movie Maniac here, and today I am bringing my review to the much anticipated trailer to the new Marvel film, a little thing called GUARDIANS of the GALAXY!!!


The plot goes as followed:
In the far reaches of space, an American pilot named Peter Quill finds himself the object of a manhunt after stealing an orb coveted by the villainous Ronan. In order to evade Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a group of misfits including Gamora, Rocket, Drax the Destroyer and Groot. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand — with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.


Going right into it: I loved the trailer, it was funny, it seemed edgier than the previous films Marvel Studios has put out, and it looks like it is going to be another hit film for Marvel Studios.


Quick positives and negatives:


Positives:

• The humor: I knew this film would have some comedy elements. Especially when you add Chris Pratt as Star-Lord and John C. Reilly as one of the members of the Nova-Corps. That scene when they are profiling Star-Lord and you see him move his hand in a cranking motion and his middle finger on his left hand starts to go up was just priceless.
• The edginess: Just like the scene I pointed out above, there are many scenes in this trailer that just points how different this film is to like Iron Man 3, The Avengers, etc.
• Rocket Raccoon and Groot!! Awesomeness!!

Negatives:

• I wanted to hear more dialogue from Rocket Raccoon and I wanted to hear Groot say "GROOT!" at least once. I guess that's a pleasure that will come when the movie arrives.

All in all, I found this trailer to be, again, funny, edgy, and excellent in showing the world what is in store for the Marvel Cinematic Universe in regards to the GUARDIANS of the GALAXY and their involvement within this cinematic universe. I cannot wait for this film to arrive in theaters.

Shirley Temple Black Passes Away at the Age of 85

Hey guys, Movie Maniac here, and it is with a heavy heart that I report that "America's Sweetheart", Shirley Temple Black dies at the age of 85 on Monday.


The reason I call her "America's Sweetheart" is because that's the kind of person she was. Sweet, kind, and gentle by nature. If you did not know who Shirley Temple Black was, personally or professionally, it was something you greatly missed out on. Her movies would leave you not only entertained but emotionally drained. Watching her on screen either as a child actor and beyond was something of a spectacle in itself.


Labeled as one of America's greatest female screen legends of all time and winner of various film awards, Shirley Temple Black's legacy will never die and the impression she left on her viewers and friends and family will never disappear. We have truly lost an icon in the film industry and their will never be another actress or woman Shirley Temple Black. She was truly one of a kind.

My The Amazing Spiderman 2 Super Bowl Trailer Review

Hey guys, Movie Maniac here, bringing to you the final trailer review of the Super Bowl trailers I saw on Sunday. This is my trailer review to The Amazing Spiderman 2 Super Bowl Trailer.

I have to say this is my favorite of the three trailers I saw. If I am not mistaken, Sony released two trailers, the main trailer played during the Super Bowl and one focused on the villains. Both trailers was awesome, especially the villains centered trailer. the premise goes like this:

• Peter Parker continues to struggle with balancing his life as a high school student, and his responsibilities as Spider-Man. When Peter begins to investigate more about his father's past, thanks to the help of his friend Harry Osborn, he begins to realize that the new threats of Electro and the Rhino all have one thing in common: OsCorp.

These trailers did exactly what I wanted in the trailer: show me Spiderman antics, quips, and aneurisms, show me the villains more, and give me the Peter and Gwen love dynamic. I also heard from reliable sources such as John Campea, editor in chief of AMC Movie News, that he heard from reliable sources the this film is going to be the equivalent for this Spiderman franchise to the The Dark Knight to Nolan's Batman franchise. If this is true, I will absolutely love this film.

The Amazing Spiderman 2 swings into theaters on May 2nd 2014!!

My Transformers: Age of Extinction Super Bowl Trailer Review

Hey guys, Movie Maniac here, bringing to you the second of three trailer reviews that premiered during the Super Bowl on Sunday. This is the trailer review to the Transformers: Age of Extinction Super Bowl Trailer.

This trailer did everything I wanted it to do, displayed mark Wahlberg as the main human protagonist, Show me the DinoBots, and all the mind-blowing explosions that comes with a Transformers film. This trailer did all that, except one thing, show me what the film is about. However, I'm not worried about it because who really goes to see these films for the plot. I for one, do not.

That quick second we see Optimus riding Grimlock holding a sword and shield was probably my favorite scene of this trailer and that people is why I am excited about this film.

Transformers: Age of Extinction transforms and rolls out into the theaters on June 27th, 2014!

My Captain America: The Winter Soldier Super Bowl Trailer Review

Hey guys, Movie Maniac here, and today I'm bringing you three trailer reviews. The first of the three is the Captain America: The Winter Soldier Super Bowl trailer review.

I'm going to just say it, Captain America 2 is shaping to probably the best of the Marvel Phase 2 films. It looks action-packed, exhilarating, and one hell of a good time. The premise of the film goes like this:
Two years after the events of The Avengers, Steve Rogers resides peacefully in Washington, D.C., struggling to adapt to contemporary society. However, after a S.H.I.E.L.D. compatriot is assailed, Rogers becomes entangled in a mystery that may endanger the globe. Together with Natasha Romanoff, Captain America attempts to uncover the growing machination while fending off hired hit men. When the entire scheme is discovered, Captain America and the Black Widow must recruit the aid of the Falcon and soon encounter an unanticipated and powerful adversary — the Winter Soldier.

This trailer showed me everything I need to know about the film: the premise, Falcon, Robert Redford, and The Winter Soldier! Having Black Widow there is a plus for sure. I loved this trailer and I just love the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe, they deliver  when it comes to their films.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier comes to theaters on April 4th, 2014!

Batman vs. Superman Update: We have our Lex Luthor and Alfred!!

Hey guys, Movie Maniac here, and we have some breaking news coming from WB/DC. It has been confirmed that Jessie Eisenberg (The Social Network, Zombieland, Now You See Me, etc.) has been cast as Lex Luthor in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel: Batman vs. Superman!!!
Initially, I was thinking "well that was unexpected." Now that I put some thought into it, I think it is a good choice because I believe Jesse Eisenberg has not been given the credit he deserves as an actor and I think with this film, it will put everyone on notice that he has dimensions in his acting. He has to have dimensions in order to play Lex Luthor. My only gripe to this announcement is that I believe he should bulk up, not a lot, but enough to convince film fans that he can go toe-to-toe with the Man of Steel. I doubt he will be fighting Superman in this upcoming film, but, I am sure he will be in the Justice League film, whenever that film actually do hit theaters. All in all, good casting by WB/DC, not the expected choice, but, hey most decisions that has been made for this film has been unexpected and this was no different.
Now, the second piece of news: WB/DC jas cast Jeremy Irons as Alfred!! Mostly known for many television appearances over the years on shows like True Blood, Parks and Recreation, etc., James Irons seems like a good addition as well. Again, it is an unexpected one, but, a good one nonetheless.

My Top 10 Best Movies of 2013

Hey guys, Movie Maniac here, and I'm bringing you my favorite movies of 2013. I won't go into too much detail of each movie because I think they speak for themselves when it comes to their Awesomeness. Remember these are MY favorite 10 films of 2013, so if my list don't agree with your list, well then that is ok because it is MY opinionated list, the movies I enjoyed when I saw them, not what you may or may not like.  So without further ado, here is my list:



Honorable Mentions: 12 Years A Slave, The Heat, The Wolverine, American Hustle, The Wolf of Wall Street, Bad Grandpa, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

• 10. Star Trek Into Darkness: It was another great film by JJ Abrams. I love this Star Trek Universe that JJ Abrams has created. We all know the movie's problem was not promoting Benedict Cumberbatch as Khan, but it was still a great film, to me anyways.
• 9. This Is The End: This movie was caused so many emotions for me, but for the most part it was hilarious and I was eating it right up, all the jokes and little quips, it was very good comedy.
• 8. World War Z: I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this film. It was shockingly enjoyable and I can't wait for the sequel.
• 7. Kick-Ass 2: I loved the first film. I could not wait for this one to come out. Of course, it wasn't as good as the first, but, it was still a good time and it is a shame it did not get as much love as it deserved.
• 6. Pacific Rim: I didn't go for the acting, I went for the action and I got a little bit of both. This film should have gotten more love than it did, but, it was still a great popcorn flick to watch in theaters.
• 5. Man of Steel: You know what I like about Man of Steel? It went there with killing ZOD! I did not anticipate Kal-El a.k.a. Superman killing Zod. It was a lot of backlash to it and you know what it was a good move and it was a very smart and, dare I say it, human move for him to kill Zod. All that and more is why this is my number 5 favorite film of 2013.
• 4. Fast and Furious 6: I couldn't wait for this film to come out, especially following how much I loved Fast Five. This film did not disappoint, I ate the action sequences up like the plane scene, the scene where Luke Evans' character was toppling cars with his super go kart. The only sad thing about the film is the tragic passing of Paul Walker.
• 3. Thor: The Dark World: I absolutely loved this film, the dynamic between Loki and Thor is just incredible. I also loved the film even more because one of my favorite actors who portrayed "The Doctor" in the long-running series Doctor Who was in it, which of course is Christopher Eccleston. It wasn't as good as the first one to me, but it was a damn good follow-up.
• 2. Iron Man 3: I adored Iron Man 3, it was way better than Iron Man 2, to be honest, I think it is better than the first film as well. I can watch this film over and over again. I did not mind the Mandarin switcheroo that they did, and for awhile I did not understand the hate until I carefully thought about it. I will discuss that in a later post, but for now, I just all around adored Iron Man 3.
• 1. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire: There is one reason why I absolutely adore this film, and surprisingly, it's not just how perfect Jennifer Lawrence's acting was in it. The reason I love this film so much is because it surprised me at how good it was and how much of a great movie it is. Not too often have I found a movie as Catching Fire and thought "wow that was not just a great movie for it's target demographic, but it was a great movie for all audiences." This was just a great film all around, I have seen this movie many times and I stay by my word that The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is a great movie going experience.

My Top 10 Worst Movies of 2013

Hey guys, Movie Maniac here, I've been busy lately with the holidays but you know I have to bring my best and worst movies of 2013. This post will contain my worst movies. I put a lot of thought into it, and remember, all of my choices are completely opinionated and subjective to my experience while watching these films.

First off, some Dishonorable Mentions:

Now to the Real Top 10 Worst Movies of 2013:

1. Movie 43: I knew this movie was gonna suck, but I did not think it was going to be so bad that I didn't even see it in theatres, I Netflix'd it. Such a failure of a movie that the actors did not promote it. Hey actors, how about you should have never accepted to do it. I think they should have been contractually forced to promote this film and sit through it as painfully as I did.
2. Scary Movie V: This movie should not have been made. Enough said.
3. Grown Ups 2: I honestly liked the first Grown Ups film. It did not need a sequel! But it's Adam Sandler, he just spits out movies just because he can. I hated this film, I stopped liking Adam Sandler after his film Click. It's sad because it's just like Smurfs 2, they make money because...to be honest, I don't know why this film made money. Anyways I hate this film, no more Adam, please, no more.
4. Smurfs 2: I thought the Smurfs was going to make a comeback, sorta like what The Muppets did with their film in 2011. The first Smurfs film I did not like, Smurfs 2, I absolutely hated it. And the argument would be it's not for my kind of demographic, but come on, this film is a mockery of kids films, and the reason I'm so disgusted by this film is because parents still take their children to see this film so another one is coming. I feel sorry for you kids.
5. A Good Day to Die Hard: Let's be honest people, this movie may have been labeled as a Die Hard film, but it wasn't a DIE HARD FILM! This was Bruce Willis from The Expendables, not John McClane. The chemistry between him and Jai Courtney was not believable as father and son duo. I don't know which father and son duo was worst, Will and Jaden Smith's in After Earth or Bruce Willis and Jai Courtney's in this film. It seems like all the Die Hard films that came after the first film was made to make the previous film better, how sad.
6. After Earth: I expected this movie to suck because Shamhammer damn near ruined my childhood with the travesty that is The Last Airbender. The film marketed to be like Will and Jaden Smith, father-son butt-kicking duo. Instead I got 90+ minutes of Jaden Smith run around in a fucking forest and Will Smith sitting on his ass. Screw you Shamhammer. Enough said.
7. Gangster Squad: I wanted to love this movie, it had a stacked cast with Josh Brolin, Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, etc. This movie was set up to be good and it fell flat for me. And since it disappointed me so much, it is why it is at the number 7 spot on this list.
8. The Peeples: The Peeples was a movie I tried so hard to like but it just did not work for me. I like Craig Robinson and Kerri Washington, but not in this movie. I thought David Alan Grier was dead, shows you how much anticipation I lacked for this movie.
9. A Haunted House: This movie was so bad that I laughed only because the person who was watching it with me was laughing hysterically. Other than that I would not laugh at all. This is what I come to expect from The Wayans, specifically Marlon. 
10. Texas Chainsaw 3D: This movie gave me a headache. Besides the bad acting or the fact the studio claimed this movie was a direct sequel to the original Texas Chainsaw, Leatherface was an anti-hero?! How dare you spit in the face of an iconic horror figure like Leatherface. Be glad you're not higher on the list.
